World champion woman’s road cycling Marianne Vos from the Netherlands
is drawing attention to the threat of dimate change. Marianne has given
the starting signal fot the GW8-BGO initiative by igniting an Olympic flame
at the foot of the Breskens light house at June 20 2007.
This coincides withe the completion of a record breaking 150 m long
sand logo, that was built by students of Het Willem van Oranje College
of Wijk en Aalburg Holland, saying “ SAVE OUR CLIMATE”.

aandacht gevraagd voor de dreigende klimaatveranderering.
Tijdens de finale van de bouw van een record zandlogo door leerlingen en docenten
van Het Willem van Oranje College te Wijk en Aalburg, bij de vuurtoren van Breskens
gaf ze het startsein voor initiatief GW8-BGO door een Olympische vlam te ontsteken
bij een honderdvijftig meter lange tekst op het strand ‘ SAVE OUR CLIMATE.’

Van de G8, zonder concrete afspraken over het terugdringen
van de wereldwijde CO2 uitstoot, hoopt ze samen met de
logobouwers dat bij de Olympische Spelen in 2008, de
sportieve wereldtoppers meer voor elkaar krijgen dan de
politieke toppers.
